In May 2024, DENCKER took an important step in the green transition when we installed solar panels on our large roof surfaces. The project covers almost 1,300 m² of roof area on our buildings, and we are proud to contribute to reducing our CO₂ footprint and supporting a more sustainable future. The solar panel system is designed to produce up to 250 MWh of electricity annually, covering a significant part of our power consumption.
Although the summer of 2024 turned out to be unusually wet, the solar panels have delivered impressive results. Since June, we have seen production of up to 200 kW of solar power, which means that we have already reached more than half of the expected annual production. Based on this, we can conclude that our investment in solar energy has so far been a success.
A steady, moderate increase in electricity prices throughout 2024 has strengthened the project’s financial case. The higher cost of electricity means that our solar panel system is even more profitable, and we can already see that it has provided a strong return on investment (ROI).
We are therefore confident that the project will not only contribute to a greener future, but also to a more stable and financially responsible energy supply for DENCKER in the long term.
The installation and commissioning of the solar panels have exceeded our expectations. Naturally, there have been challenges along the way, and we have therefore greatly appreciated the collaboration with our local partners.
Solcellegruppen, which has been responsible for both the practical installation and the administrative work, has handled the technical and logistical tasks efficiently and quickly. This has enabled us to get started without major delays or complications.
When looking at the total savings, the solar panel system is expected to reduce DENCKER’s CO₂e emissions by up to 15% across our Scope 1 and 2 emissions. This means that we are well on our way to reaching our climate targets for 2030.
We look forward to continuing our work to integrate green solutions across our company.
We are proud to take this step, and we are pleased to see that the solar panel system is already proving to be both a financial and environmental success.
This is only the beginning of a green journey that will continue to evolve and help shape a more sustainable future for us all.
“As part of the green transition, we have now taken a major step towards our goal of reducing our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 46% in 2030 compared to 2019.”
