The North Jutland-based manufacturing company DENCKER has entered into an agreement with DGS Thisted to take over the factory’s toolmaking and foundry departments. The agreement includes, among other things, the retention of employees, and the parties are also entering into a cooperation agreement.
At DGS Thisted, approximately 30 employees produce and develop tools for moulding hearing aids for Oticon, and it is this part of the total factory of around 200 employees in Thisted that is now being taken over by DENCKER.
This means that both employees and machines will transfer from DGS Thisted to DENCKER, which already operates a foundry, manufactures production moulds and prototypes, and repairs tools.
DGS Thisted is facing closure at the end of 2018, and now the nearly 30 toolmaking employees will be able to continue their working lives in a healthy growth company.
The employees from DGS Thisted will move their workplace to DENCKER in Nykøbing Mors, and with this agreement, DENCKER will double in size.
“We have the space and the capacity needed to take over the employees and integrate these skilled toolmakers into our fantastic workplace,” says CEO Anders Dencker, who also founded the company more than 20 years ago.
“As a natural complement to our current production, we are now entering the area of developing tools for the development and moulding of components for hearing aids.
At the same time, we are strengthening our export profile by supplying DGS, which is an international company. We also look forward to benefiting from the knowledge and experience we can gain from DGS owner William Demant’s strategic co-ownership,” says Anders Dencker.
Co-ownership
According to the agreement between DENCKER and DGS owner William Demant, DENCKER will take over the “Micro Tooling” area, which involves the development and design of tools for hearing aid production and moulding.
William Demant will acquire 40% of the shares in DENCKER A/S and become a co-owner of the company. The agreement thereby forms the basis for further collaboration between DENCKER and DGS.

The parties to the agreement are now initiating the process of transferring employees and machines. This will take place in a controlled process from 1 April 2017, with the expectation that DENCKER will initially take over the workshop at the DGS factory in Thisted, and that the actual relocation will be completed in spring 2018.

With the exception of service, William Demant has decided to move the activities at DGS Thisted to Mierzyn in Poland, where a factory with 2,000 employees currently manufactures hearing aids and equipment within hearing healthcare.
This will take place by the end of 2018.
